Adult Volunteering |

We are always looking for Adult help |
Yes thats right you can help out as well. We already have a great team of volunteers which make up the staff of 1244DF. Without adult volunteers we wouldn't be able to take part in all the amazing activities we do in the ATC. We are looking for people from all backgrounds with a passion for encouraging and helping cadets achieve more than they thought they could do. Your help could range from helping to transport cadets to and from events to becoming a full commissioned officer in the Volunteer Reserve (Training Branch) of the RAF. Full uniformed commissioned and none commissioned officers run all aspects of a squadron - all are volunteers and most started out as Civilian Instructors. You don't need to be ex-RAF or have any armed services background. You need to be 20 years or older. And you will be subjected to CRB clearance checks.

What can you offer? |
The main thing we need is enthusiasm to help out. But if you have additional skills, all the better. Here's a list of the kinds of skills that would be helpful - but don't feel this list limits what you can offer:
We meet twice a week and there are activities at weeks, and during the summer there are week-long camps. You decide how much of your time you can offer, there is no 'minimum hours' for civilian instructor and you don't have to be there every parade night - though turning up regularly will help share the load with other staff. |

Opportunities for you |
Once you get established then opportunities will arise for your own development, including training courses, expeditions, trips, camps, flying, gliding and shooting. Cadet's safety and development come first, but there's no reason why you can't have some fun too. |
